Spelling Bee solver and pangram finder
Enter the center letter and the six outer letters to see every word, the pangrams and the points. Everyday words come first. Would you rather get a nudge? Try today's hints.
When to use a solver
A solver is the fastest way to check a puzzle once you are done, settle an argument about a word, or study which endings and letter pairs a set of letters allows. If you are still playing, the hint ladder and the word tracker help you finish on your own.
Tips for reading the results
- Long words score the most: a four-letter word is 1 point, a longer word 1 point per letter, plus 7 for a pangram.
- Words ending in -ING, -ED, -ER or -LY often come in families. Find one and try its relatives.
- The daily puzzle almost never uses the letter S, so letter sets with S are rare there.
Questions and answers
How does the Spelling Bee solver work?
Type the center letter and the six outer letters. The solver checks about 98,000 English words and lists every word of four or more letters that uses the center letter and only those seven letters, with points. Pangrams are shown first.
Is it a pangram solver too?
Yes. Any word that uses all seven letters is a pangram and appears at the top in its own group, so it works as a pangram finder for any seven letters.
Why does the solver find words the puzzle does not accept?
The daily puzzle uses a hand-picked list that leaves out obscure words. Our solver shows everyday words first and puts rare dictionary words in a separate Less common group, so you can try the likely ones first.
Can I share my results?
Yes. After you search, the address bar holds your letters (for example ?letters=nacilmy, center first). Copy it to share the same search.
Which word lists does it use?
ENABLE, a public domain word list used by many word games, ranked with SCOWL frequency data so common words come first. Offensive words are removed.
